My past two evenings were spent seeing two wildly different concerts. On Tuesday I saw on of my favorite bands, Beirut, at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Zach Condon flawlessly sang his way through the wonderful hour-long set. Thanks to iPhone 4 technology you can see HD quality video from Cory's phone of Beirut performing The Gulag Orkestar during the encore:
On the opposite end of the spectrum was Lady Gaga at MSG last night. She played for over two hours to a mix of superfans dressed up as her, frightened parents with their kids, and lots of orange-skinned women in their 40s who could all potentially be cast members on the Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Her show was spectacular even with one too many speeches telling the audience to follow their dreams and not be scared to be themselves (eyeroll). I don't know most of her songs besides the singles but it didn't matter because there was so much else going on. Her costumes were ridiculous as expected, including a lovely metal leotard where fire sparks shoot out of her boobs and crotch. Halloween costume?
